Dr. Denmark R Jensen, O.D.
Optometrist

Denmark R. Jensen, a distinguished graduate from The Ohio State College of Optometry, joined Layton Visual Center as a full partner on August 16th, 2004. His exceptional contributions to optometry were recognized in 2010 when he was honored with the Young Optometrist of the Year award by the Utah Optometric Association, a testament to his significant service to the profession and Utah's visual welfare.

Born and raised in Layton on Elm Street, Denmark's early years were steeped in community life until the age of 9, when his family, led by Dennis R. Jensen, relocated to Sheridan, Montana, to manage a family-owned grocery store. His educational journey took him to Ricks College, where he earned a degree in Interpersonal Communications and a Bachelor's in Exercise Physiology from Brigham Young University in December 1999. In June 2004, he completed his optometry degree at The Ohio State College of Optometry.

Denmark's dedication to service extended beyond his professional life, as he served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Copenhagen, Denmark Mission, reflecting his deep-rooted family ties to his Scandinavian heritage. His unique name pays homage to his great-great-great-grandfather, the first Scandinavian born on the plains of Nebraska, named Denmark in honor of the mother country. Continuing this legacy, his parents, Dennis and Corinne, named their eldest son after this ancestral connection.

Married to Dayna M. Jensen of St. Anthony, Idaho, for over 22 years, Denmark is a devoted family man, sharing his love for the outdoors through hiking, fishing, camping, and skiing with his four sons. His life story is a blend of rich heritage, dedicated service, and a deep commitment to family and community, making him a valued member of the Layton Visual Center team and the broader optometric community.
